Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for the Sega Game Gear is an 8-bit side-scrolling platform game released in late 1992, acting as a separate installment from its 16-bit Genesis counterpart. The plot centers on Sonic rescuing Tails from Dr. Robotnik, who has hidden him in the Crystal Egg Zone, requiring players to collect six Chaos Emeralds hidden throughout the game's zones.
