The Game Gear you thought you were getting in 1991.

Back in 1990, Sega was swinging for the fences with the Game Gear.

Color screen. Backlight. Handheld Sonic. A bigger, louder answer to the Game Boy sitting in everybody’s backpack. On paper, it felt like the future. In your hands, it was still cool as hell, but the original screen always made you work for it.

This one gets the glow-up.

Refurbished and custom-built by Slaqr Retro Gaming & Collectibles, this Game Gear has been upgraded with a modern IPS screen for a brighter, sharper play experience. The lime green shell gives it that loud Sega energy without losing the shape and feel of the original handheld.

It also comes with Sonic the Hedgehog 2, because if you were carrying a Game Gear back then, this was the kind of cartridge that made the whole thing make sense.

Not a stock shelf piece. Not a sealed-up museum unit. This is a rebuilt Game Gear made to be played, displayed, and appreciated by someone who remembers when Sega was trying to make the future fit in your hands.
