To ensure smooth sailing for both you and your buyers, we’ve put together a set of guidelines. By following these, you’ll keep your shop in good standing while giving customers that fresh throwback vibe they’re looking for.

1. Refund Policy & Accurate Listings

Refund Policy: All sales are final unless the product is misrepresented. Make sure your listings are accurate and detailed to avoid refunds. If a customer receives an item that doesn't match your description, they're eligible for a refund.

Accuracy is Key: Include the product’s condition, manufacturing year, any wear and tear, and unique features. Customers are relying on your honesty to make informed purchases.

2. Product Titles & Descriptions

Titles: Use clear, specific titles that include the original year, product name, and distinguishing features (e.g., 1999 - Tiger Electronics Furby Limited Edition Teal). This makes it easier for buyers to identify and search for items. The product should always start with the year. If the exact year is unknown, you can enter: 1990s, Y2K, Vintage, or Vintage Style (if a product has a vintage style, but was first manufactured after 2010). 

Descriptions: Give your buyers a nostalgic trip with 3-5 sentences about the product. Highlight any imperfections, mention the packaging condition if relevant, and lean into that throwback appeal.

3. Use High-Quality Images

Looks Matter: Upload at least 3 high-resolution images (1024 x 1200 pixels minimum) of your product from multiple angles. Show off the item’s details, including packaging, imperfections, and anything else that makes your product unique.

4. Product Weight & Shipping

Always double check that the customer’s address matches the address displayed on your shipping label prior to shipping.

Weight Accuracy: Ensure you input the correct product weight when uploading items. This info will be used to calculate shipping costs at checkout, so double-check for accuracy.

Packaging: Secure your items properly. If you’re selling fragile or large items (like vintage collectibles or clothes), make sure they’re well-packed to prevent damage during shipping. Take pride in the presentation of your shipments. 

5. Inventory Management

Stock Control: Add stock to your own store/profile location only. Managing your inventory efficiently ensures buyers aren’t disappointed by out-of-stock items, so be sure to add the accurate quantities.

6. Product Categories

Pick the Right Category: Select the most relevant category and subcategory when uploading your products (e.g., Toys & Games → Collectibles). Proper categorization helps buyers find your listings more easily.

7. Nostalgic Appeal & Brand Vibe

Embrace the Throwback: Whether it’s a 90s toy, Y2K accessory, or a rare collectible, always lean into the nostalgic appeal in your product descriptions, titles, and photos. Remember, customers are here for the memories!

8. Communication & Customer Service

Stay Friendly: If a buyer reaches out with questions, respond quickly and professionally. Good communication is key to creating positive buyer experiences and fostering trust in the ThrowbackBuys community.

Handling Issues: If there’s a dispute or issue with an order, work with the buyer to resolve it as smoothly as possible. Our support team is here to help if needed.

9. Promotions & Discounts

Get Involved: From time to time, we run sitewide promotions or allow sellers to offer discounts on their products. Keep an eye out for these opportunities to boost your sales and increase exposure!
